Re-Energising a Marketing Department

Computer Productivity Ltd.

A Software Engineering Company with clients in Scandinavia and mainland Europe as well as right across the UK.

Over a period of many months Skills Applied installed a Marketing department (lead generation, publicity etc.) and processes of Product Management and Customer Focus across the whole of the organisation. The tools to achieve this include the Siebel CRM software.

This mixed role has been visibly an interim management activity but with mentoring and consultancy delivered alongside. This was a very intensive, albeit part-time, involvement covering the creation of sales support tools and product literature, populating web sites and running campaigns ranging from seminars to exhibitions. One noticeable effect was a re-energising of the sales and marketing operations and revised expectations in 'the art of the possible'.

My role is focussed on the management and market 'fit' of the evolving organisation and directing the marketing effort to take advantage of opportunities. To assist in growth without undue waste or losses.

Now it is a large and well-respected Fleet Management services company with West End Head Office and subsidiaries in Scotland and England.

Skills Applied add research, professional planning and advice to the energies that the client has. Results have included: growth in waves, Evolution, good financial improvements. The Management team have scope for further business growth.

 

Organisational Development

Trade Source Ltd.

A high volume printing company with a commitment to high quality and excellent customer service Trade Source wanted to:

  1. Provide an orderly and cost effective route to skills upgrades.
  2. Instil mgt. practices that would avoid problems escalating and helped avoid Trade Source competing for people on price alone.
  3. Build the management team.

Skills Applied undertook to provide a rapid 'overview' of mgt. practices and then provide and support a prioritised action plan.

Following this diagnosis, Skills Applied cultivated a 'working party' of middle management that initiated many new working methods. Eventually the much- strengthened organisation was sold with a very happy outcome for owners and workers alike. It continues to expand and thrive with the same management.
